Associate sponsorships are priceless to both the store and associate members of Mid-States. When considering what I would do to build sales, if I were a vendor, I look at what is important to me as a store buyer/manager. At the top of the list would be the personal/professional relationship created with my most trusted vendors. Let me tell you about someone special, without mentioning names . . .
Many years ago someone started calling on my store, making a point to speak with me at trade shows, stopping by when they were in the area . . . yet never pushing me too hard or making me feel like it was 'just a sale'. I felt no pressure from this person, but I did feel informed about the product lines they offered. I knew they would be there when I was willing to listen and/or buy more. It took a couple years for me to really make it worth their while, but I never stopped buying from that associate. When I moved up in my position, I trained the buyer under me to trust this person and to deal with them regularly. To this day, and I've been with my store for over 22 years, I recommend this vendor and it really doesn't matter what lines they are selling. THAT is what building a relationship means. (Thanks to those that think I might be talking about YOU ~ I probably am!)
For those of you that donate to our association, let me assure you that store buyers/managers notice. They know that this means you care about our stores and our association. That is priceless and I thank you! ~Shelly
